Stress Doesn’t Always Show Up in Your Mind First

Have you ever noticed your shoulders creeping up toward your ears while you're working? Or caught yourself clenching your jaw without even realizing it?

Sometimes, our bodies notice stress before we do.

We tend to think of stress as something that happens in our minds. We feel overwhelmed, worried, or anxious. But stress can also show up in little physical ways that we easily overlook.
A stiff neck. Tight shoulders. Frequent headaches. A jaw that feels sore in the morning. Even feeling tired when you haven't done anything particularly exhausting.

Sound familiar?

When life gets busy, it's easy to ignore these signs. We keep working, taking care of others, answering messages, and moving from one thing to the next. We tell ourselves we'll slow down later.
But later doesn't always come.

One simple thing you can do is pause for a moment and check in with your body. Are you holding your breath? Are your shoulders tense? Is your jaw clenched?
You don't need to change everything at once. Sometimes, just noticing what's happening is a good place to start.

Take a few slow breaths. Relax your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Step away from your screen for a minute if you can.
These small moments won't make life's challenges disappear, but they can help you become more aware of how you're feeling.

Your body is part of the conversation, too. Sometimes, it's worth listening before it has to speak louder.
With care,
