What Happens During Your First Massage Appointment?

If you've never had a massage before, you may have a few questions.
What do I wear? Do I have to ta
lk during the massage? What if I'm uncomfortable?
The good news is: there's really no right or wrong way to have your first massage.
First, you'll have a conversation.
Before the massage begins, you'll talk with your massage therapist about how you're feeling, any areas that are bothering you, and anything else that's important to know.
This is also a good time to ask questions. You don't need to know anything about massage beforehand.
Then, you'll have some privacy.
Your therapist will explain what to expect and give you privacy to get ready. You only undress to the level you're comfortable with, and you'll be properly draped throughout the massage.
You are always in control of your comfort.
During the massage, communication is welcome.
If the pressure doesn't feel right, you're too warm or cold, or you simply want something adjusted, speak up.
You don't have to "tough it out."
And you don't have to make conversation either. Some people like to chat. Others prefer quiet. Both are completely fine.
And afterward?
Take your time getting up.
Have some water, take a breath, and notice how your body feels.
After all, the whole point is to give yourself some time to slow down.
A first massage can feel a little unfamiliar, but there's nothing you need to know or prepare perfectly. Just come as you are.
With care,
Renata Skoupy!
